Theft & attempted theft
In the event of theft (including car-jacking and home-jacking) or attempted theft of the vehicle, ask the police to draw up a report as soon as possible and at the very latest within 24 hours.
In the event of the loss or theft of the vehicle documents, licence plate or one or more keys, the police will give you a special certificate.
If the events occur abroad you need to make an additional statement to the Belgian police when you return to Belgium.
Within 24 hours of making your report to the police, you must also provide the LeasePlan insurance service with a detailed written statement of the facts. Send the original police certificate clearly identifying the stolen vehicle and / or documents to LeasePlan and keep a copy for yourself.
In the event of loss or theft of licence plates and / or keys the car must be kept off public roads.
Guard against theft!
- Do not leave any valuables, such as a car radio, mobile phone or (car) papers, in your car.
- Always lock your car when you leave it, even at the petrol station.
- Choose a car radio with a removable keycard and/or security code.
