Rent index
Since 2000, LeasePlan calculates the rent index at the beginning of each year.
LeasePlan’s rent index is a figure that reflects to what point the parameters with an influence
on the leasing price are evolved compared to the previous years.
Each year, many interested customers follow the evolution of this index. They use it as an
instrument of indexing their car policy budgets.
With 2000 as a reference year (rent index 100) we noted an index of 122,35 in 2007. For 2008 there’s fall in the index for the second time, which ends up on 118.78 (without fuel, see table).
| 2000 | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | |
| Rent-index incl fuel | 100,00 | 120,89 | 129,94 | 123,53 | 125,37 |
| Rent-index excl fuel | 100,00 | 119,18 | 124,81 | 121,78 | 118,78 |
General conclusion:
The rent index excluding fuel decreases, whereas the rent index increases including fuel because of the rising fuel prices.
The rent index does not always evolve in the same way in the different segments of your fleet. Contact your account manager to evaluate together your car policy budgets.
