Plakettenverordnung in Germany
Since March, 1st 2007 the law "on identification of clean cars" is force.
What does this law mean?
- Vehicles are classified on the basis of pollution and traffic restriction measures are linked to this. The aim, first of all, is to keep polluting cars out of cities with a high ozone level.
- Applicable to all vehicles: passenger cars, lorries, buses. Not applicable to motorbikes and motorcycles.
- Applies to both German cars and foreign cars.
- Cars are given a sticker (known as the ‘Feinstaubplakette’) on the basis of their Euro
norm.
Euro norm 2 = red
Euro norm 3 = yellow
Euro norm 4 = green - Applicable in all areas indicated with a specially designed road sign
